What is Canvass Pro?

Canvass Pro adds powerful property markers to your map based on public records data, including:

  • Solar Permits: Homes with solar panel permits (approved, completed, or final).

  • Home Upgrade Permits: Properties with recent renovations (roofing, HVAC, electrical, windows, etc.).

  • Pool Data: Properties with swimming pools.

  • Solar Installers: Filter by specific solar installation companies, including bankrupt companies.

  • Loan Financiers: Properties with solar loans from specific financing companies.

  • Last Sold Date: Recently purchased properties (last 3, 6, 12, or 24 months).

How It Works

Unlike standard filters that remove homes from your search, Canvass Pro adds markers to homes that match your selected criteria. This means you can see both high-priority Canvass Pro leads and nearby qualifying homes at the same time.

Understanding Map Markers

When you apply filters in Canvass Pro, you'll see two types of markers on the map:

  1. C Icon (Canvass Pro Homes): These homes meet ALL of your standard filters (like owner-occupied, year built, home size) AND match at least one of your selected Canvass Pro criteria (such as solar permits or pool data). These are your high-priority leads.

  2. Yellow Ring (Standard Filter Homes): These homes meet your standard filters but do not have any of the selected Canvass Pro characteristics. They still meet your basic requirements, making them good options to knock on when visiting nearby Canvass Pro homes.

This dual-marker system allows you to efficiently target high-potential homes while identifying nearby qualified homes.

Filter Behavior

  • Standard Filters (Owner Occupied, Year Built, Home Size): These filters work as exclusions. Only homes meeting ALL standard filters will appear (marked with a Yellow Ring).

  • Canvass Pro Filters (Solar Permits, Pools, etc.): These filters work as inclusions. Homes matching ANY Canvass Pro filter get the C icon, provided they also meet ALL standard filters.

Common Use Cases

  • Solar Sales "Add-Ons": Target homes that already have solar panels installed by bankrupt companies or financed through specific lenders.

    • Example Setup: Standard Filters: Owner-occupied, built after 2000. Canvass Pro: Solar permits (finaled), Bankrupt installers.

  • Recent Home Renovations: Find properties with recent renovation activity that might need additional services like roofing, windows, or HVAC upgrades.

    • Example Setup: Standard Filters: Owner-occupied, 2000+ sqft. Canvass Pro: Home upgrade permits (roofing, HVAC), Last 12 months.

  • Homes with a pool: Locate homes with a pool that may be good candidates for solar power.

    • Example Setup: Standard Filters: Owner-occupied, built after 1990. Canvass Pro: Has pool.

  • New Homeowner Outreach: Target recently purchased properties where new owners may be interested in home improvements, security systems, or other services.

    • Example Setup: Standard Filters: Owner-occupied, 1500+ sqft. Canvass Pro: Last sold date (last 6 months).

FAQs

Is the data accurate?

We get our data from multiple sources. Our property data is highly accurate and is updated regularly. For permit data, we rely on municipalities and other public record sources which are often incomplete. We strive to provide clean, accurate data, if you find errors in data please let us know and we will work with our data providers to improve the accuracy.

Does the filter work offline?

No, Canvass Pro requires an active internet connection to load the property data and markers.

Can I filter by multiple criteria at once?

Yes! You can combine multiple Canvass Pro filters. Homes will show the C icon if they match ANY of your selected Canvass Pro criteria AND meet ALL of your standard filters.

How often is the data updated?

Property data is updated regularly as we receive new information from municipalities and public record sources. The frequency varies by location and data type.

Why don't I see any Canvass Pro markers?

Possible reasons include:

  • The area you're viewing may not have any properties matching your selected criteria.

  • The municipality may not provide that type of permit data.

  • You may need to adjust your filter settings to be less restrictive.

  • Your internet connection may be unstable.

Why do all or most of the homes have a C icon?

This often means you have too many markers chosen. Try reducing the number of Canvass Pro markers selected.
