Area Management (Web) — What's New and How It's Better

Terros has upgraded the Account Management experience into a rebuilt tool called Area Management. This article explains what changed, what's new, and how to make the most of the new layout.

What Changed?

The old Account Management tool focused primarily on a map view with a sidebar for filtering and assigning. The new Area Management experience keeps everything you relied on — the map, assignment rules, area management — and adds a full account list view, a redesigned layout, and a number of new capabilities that make it easier to manage accounts at scale.

What's New

Three Views in One Place

You can now switch between three views using the tabs at the top of the page:

  • List — Browse, search, and bulk-manage accounts in a table

  • Map — The same map view you're familiar with, with account pins and polygon drawing

  • Areas — Manage your assignment rules and territories in a sortable, searchable table

Previously, you had to navigate between separate pages or panels to do these tasks. Now they're all accessible from a single page.

Full Account List with Bulk Actions

The new List tab gives you a full table view of all accounts matching your current filters, with:

  • Load more — accounts load in pages of 1,000 as you scroll

  • Column toggle — show or hide the columns you care about

  • Row selection — check off individual accounts or select all

  • Bulk actions — change owner, change stage, or delete in bulk from the floating action bar

  • CSV export — download all account data including workflow stages, timestamps, and custom fields

Open Account Details Without Losing Your Place

Clicking an account in the list now opens it in a full-size overlay rather than navigating away from the page. When you close it, you're right back where you were — same filters, same scroll position.

From the account detail overlay you can:

  • View and edit all account fields

  • Schedule an event

  • Access stage history and workflow actions

  • Delete the account

Areas Table, Upgraded

The Areas tab replaces the old area/rules list with a full table. You can now:

  • Sort by area name, status, or last run date

  • Search areas by name

  • Toggle and reorder columns

  • Multi-select areas for bulk unassign or delete

  • See the status of each area at a glance (Draft, Scheduled, Assigned, Expiring, Unassigned)

Area Detail in a Focused Modal

When you click an area in the Areas tab or on the map, the area detail now opens in a full-size modal — similar to the account detail experience. You can review area details, see assignment info, and take action without navigating away from the page.

Smarter Drawing Tools

Drawing a new area now uses a cleaner workflow:

  • While drawing, the header shows clear instructions and a Cancel button — nothing else gets in the way

  • After you finish drawing, you get Assign, Delete Accounts, Reset Stage, and Cancel actions right in the header

  • If you already have an area selected and try to draw, the tool will deselect the area first so you're not left with conflicting highlights

Area Creation with Intent

When creating a new area, you now choose your assignment intent upfront:

  • Draft — Create the area definition without assigning yet

  • Assign Now — Run the assignment immediately on save

  • Schedule — Set a start and optional end date for the assignment to run automatically

What Stayed the Same

  • All existing assignments and areas carry over — nothing is lost

  • The same filters, teams, and user assignments you've configured still work

  • The map, pin colors, polygon overlays, and drawing behavior are unchanged

  • Assignment rules with Auto Assign on Import still work the same way

  • Permissions are unchanged — managers assign within their team, admins can assign across teams
