Where to find Solar Coverage
Open Canvass, then tap the Layers button.
In the Layers menu, turn on Solar Coverage.
When Solar Coverage is on, the map shows the solar coverage overlay where solar tile data is available. If an area does not have coverage, the overlay may not show solar information there.
Why coverage can vary
Solar coverage depends on the imagery and solar data available for that location. Some areas have more detailed solar information than others.
Google's solar data can vary by quality level:
HIGH coverage uses low-altitude aerial imagery.
MEDIUM coverage uses enhanced aerial imagery.
BASE coverage uses enhanced satellite imagery and may be more limited.
Even when an area appears to have solar coverage, some addresses or buildings may still have limited or unavailable data.

Solar Coverage vs. solar filters
Solar Coverage is a map layer. It helps show where solar coverage information is available on the map.
Solar filters are different. Depending on your account access, the Canvass filter sheet may also include solar-related property filters, such as:
Solar Permit
Solar Installer
The Solar Permit filter can help find properties with solar permit activity, such as Submitted, Approved, Completed, or Cancelled permits. It can also use a permit timeframe.
The Solar Installer filter can help find properties connected to certain installer names or installer groups, such as Bankrupt Installers or a custom installer keyword list.
Why solar information may be missing
Solar information may be missing or incomplete when:
Solar imagery is not available for the area.
The available imagery is lower quality.
The property does not have matching solar permit data.
The selected filters are too narrow.
Your account does not include access to a solar-related filter.
The map data has not loaded or refreshed for the current area.
Troubleshooting
If you expected to see solar information but do not:
1. Open Layers and confirm Solar Coverage is turned on.
2. Zoom into the area you are reviewing.
3. Check whether the area appears on Google's solar coverage map.
4. If you are using filters, clear or widen the Solar Permit and Solar Installer filters.
5. Refresh or reopen Canvass if the map did not finish loading.
Solar coverage is a helpful guide, but it should not be treated as a guarantee that a specific property has complete solar data.
